Shares of Helen of Troy(HELE Quote) were among the Nasdaq's winners Friday, jumping 13.8% after the personal care products company posted better-than-expected fourth-quarter results. For the quarter ended Feb. 28, the company earned $9.7 million, or 30 cents a share, on revenue of $143.9 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expected earnings of 27 cents a share on revenue of $138.2 million. During the year-earlier quarter, the company earned $6.6 million, or 21 cents a share, on revenue of $134.5 million. Looking ahead, Helen of Troy continues to see fiscal 2008 earnings of $2 a share on revenue that will be more than $660 million. Analysts project earnings of $1.97 to $674.5 million. Shares closed up $3.07 to $25.30. World Fuel Services(INT Quote) slumped 14.5% after the fuel provider posted disappointing first-quarter earnings. The company earned $14.8 million, or 51 cents a share, on revenue of $2.7 billion. Analysts expected earnings of 61 cents a share. During the year-earlier period, the company earned $15 million, or 52 cents a share, on revenue of $2.53 billion. Shares closed down $6.73 to $39.85. Shares of Foot Locker(FL Quote) fell 7.1% after the athletic shoe retailer slashed its first-quarter earnings guidance. The company now sees earnings of 10 cents to 11 cents a share, down significantly from an earlier forecast of 34 cents to 37 cents a share. Analysts project earnings of 36 cents a share. "The shortfall in our expected earnings primarily reflects a first quarter comparable-store sales decline of 5.1 percent and additional markdowns taken in our U.S. stores," the company said.
