Oil and gas-related exchange-traded funds were among the best performers Tuesday. Crude prices, which sank 4% the previous session, were recently up 56 cents to $62.07 a barrel. Meanwhile, gasoline was higher by 3 cents to $2.12 a gallon, and natural gas was adding 31 cents to $7.86 per million British thermal units.
The PowerShares DB Oil(DBO Quote) ETF was higher by 65 cents, or 2.5%, to $26.40. The Ultra Oil & Gas ProShares(DIG Quote) was gaining $1.08, or 1.4%, to $80.06. The PowerShares Dynamic Oil & Gas Services(PXJ Quote) added 30 cents, or 1.4%, to $21.73. Bundled securities tracking silver also were on the rise, as futures added one cent to $13.78 an ounce. The PowerShares DB Silver(DBS Quote) ETF was higher by 41 cents, or 1.5%, to $27.42. The iShares Silver Trust(SLV Quote) ETF was recently up $1.74, or 1.3%, to $138.74. Gold-related ETFs benefited from a rise in gold futures. Prices tacked on $6.80 to $683.70 an ounce, as the dollar weakened against other major currencies. The PowerShares DB Gold(DGL Quote) ETF was adding 26 cents, or 1%, to $26.81. Also, the streetTracks Gold Shares(GLD Quote) was up 65 cents, or 1%, to $67.18. On the losing side, the HealthShares Emerging Cancer (HHJ Quote) ETF sank as many large cancer-drug names moved lower. Dendreon (DNDN Quote), which has tripled since late March after the Food and Drug Administration endorsed the company's Provenge prostate cancer vaccine treatment, was recently losing 7%. Rival Cell Genesys(CEGE Quote) slumped 9%. The ETF was recently down 30 cents, or 2.3%, to $28.59. Also, the Internet Architecture HOLDRs(IAH Quote) eased as major holding Hewlett-Packard(HPQ Quote) shed 2%. The ETF was recently lower by 40 cents, or 0.9%, to $42.36.- Loading Comments...
