Yahoo! Scores Viacom Deal

Yahoo! (YHOO) scored a search-advertising deal with Viacom (VIAB).

Terms weren't disclosed, but the companies said the multiyear deal covers search and contextual ads on 33 Viacom sites, including MTV.com, VH1.com, Nickelodeon.com, comedycentral.com and BET.com.

"As a global leader in content for every screen and platform," said Viacom chief Philippe Dauman, "we couldn't be more pleased to have them as a partner and we look forward to growing our relationship even more over time."

Yahoo! chief Terry Semel added that "Viacom is a global leader in entertainment that shares Yahoo!'s commitment to connecting users to the content, products and services for which they are looking while respecting copyrights and other intellectual property rights at the same time."

The news comes just a month after Viacom sued Google's (GOOG) YouTube, contending it failed to respect copyrights and other intellectual property rights.

On Tuesday, Viacom fell 30 cents to $40.70, Google dropped $1.40 to $466.81 and Yahoo! rose 17 cents to $31.81.
