The HealthShares Emerging Cancer(HHJ Quote) exchange-traded fund was higher for a second straight session. Dendreon(DNDN Quote), which surged 147% Friday after the Food and Drug Administration said the company's prostate cancer vaccine treatment, Provenge, was safe and effective in treating prostate cancer, was rising another 11.7%. The ETF was recently up 43 cents, or 1.8%, to $24.98.
Utility-related ETFs were also faring well. Among individual names, Entergy(ETR Quote), Exelon (EXC Quote), FirstEnergy(FE Quote) and Public Service Enterprise Group (PEG Quote) were climbing 2.3% or more. The Utilities Select Sector SPDR(XLU Quote) ETF was tacking on 2.2% to $40.59. The Utilities HOLDRs(UTH Quote) ETF was higher by 1.9% to $143.47. The iShares Dow Jones US Utilities(IDU Quote) ETF was adding 1.6% to $98.67. On the flip side, ETFs tracking homebuilders were the worst performers. Among homebuilder names, Hovnanian(HOV Quote) was falling 3.5%, Standard Pacific(SPF Quote) was losing 3.3%, Meritage Homes(MTH Quote) was shedding 2.7% and Beazer Homes(BZH Quote) was down 1.9%. The SPDR Homebuilders(XHB Quote) ETF was sliding 1.3% at $32.14. The iShares Dow Jones U.S. Home Construction(ITB Quote) ETF was recently down 1.1% at $33.78. The SPDR S&P Semiconductor(XSD Quote) ETF was also among Monday's losers as holding Maxim Integrated Products(MXIM Quote) sank 2.4%.
