This Week's ETF Winners & Losers

The iShares Dow Jones U.S. Broker-Dealers (IAI) exchange-traded fund was one of the week's best performers, helped along by Morgan Stanley (MS).

For the week, the ETF added 5.1% to finish at $54.11.

Bundled securities tracking the energy sector also gained ground over the five sessions. The May crude contract, which became the front-month instrument on Wednesday, jumped $3.03 during the last three sessions to finish at $62.28 a barrel.

The United States Oil (USO) ETF added 4.4% to $50.57. The iPath Goldman Sachs Crude Oil Index (OIL) ETF rose 4.5% to $36.92.

The PowerShares Lux Nanotech (PXN) ETF was another of the week's biggest winners. Holding Cambridge Display Technology (OLED) surged more than 14% over the five sessions, and the ETF was higher by 4.3% at $17.54.

On the other hand, the Broadband HOLDRs (BDH) ETF was one of few big losers for the week. On Monday, holding Nortel (NT) fell hard after the company reported that revenue for the first quarter and full year will be flat to slightly lower than in 2006. The ETF gave back 1.7% to finish the week at $15.75.

The iShares Lehman 20+ Year Treasury Bond (TLT) was also among the decliners. The losses came after the Federal Reserve decided to keep its federal funds target unchanged at 5.25% for the sixth straight meeting.

However, the Fed also said that readings on core inflation "have been somewhat elevated," and that "the committee's predominant policy concern remains the risk that inflation will fail to moderate as expected." For the week, the yield on the 10-year Treasury, which moves inversely to the price, rose to 4.61% from 4.55%. The yield on the 30-year bond moved to 4.80% from 4.69% last Friday.

The iShares Lehman 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF eased 1.2% to $88.80.
