A day of modest highs brought some Asian markets to their highest levels in three weeks.
Japanese shares climbed, with Tokyo's Nikkei 225 Index up 0.4% and the broader Topix moved 0.6% higher, closing at 17,480.61 and 1,741.94, respectively. In China, the Shanghai and Shenzen both rose to new records, settling 0.18% and 0.1% higher. This is the second consecutive record-setting close just three weeks after the huge selloff. Among the losers in Asia were South Korea's Kospi, which slid 0.8%, Singapore's Straits Times Index, which was off 0.43%, and India's Sensex, which dropped 0.17%.- Loading Comments...
