Global Stocks Gain
Stocks were generally stronger in Asia overnight Monday, and markets in Europe followed with gains of their own.
Tokyo's Nikkei 225 climbed 1.6% to 17,010, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 1.7% to 19,267. China's Shanghai and Shenzhen 300 was higher by 2.1% to 2659, and Taiwan's Taiex tacked on 0.2% to 7737. South Korea's Kospi was up 1.1% to 1443, and India's BSE Sensex gained 1.7% to 12,645. Singapore's Straits Times Index added 1.5% to 3113. Elsewhere, Australia's All Ordinaries Index was ahead by 0.4% to 5839. Turning to Europe, the London FTSE 100 rose 1% to 6189, and Frankfurt's Xetra DAX was better by 1.4% at 6671. Milan's MIB 30 climbed 1.5% to 40,341, and the Swiss Market Index had a 1.4% gain to 8842. Stockholm's OMX 30 was up 1.9%, and the Paris Cac 40 added 1.4%. Markets in the Americas were also higher. Mexico's Bolsa edged up 0.1% to 26,901, and Argentina's Merval surged 1.9% to 2023. Brazil's Bovespa ran up 1.6% to 43,409, and Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index gained 1.1% to 12,972.- Loading Comments...
