Markets Mixed in Asia
Equities in Asia were mixed overnight, but one of China's main market measures posted solid gains.
The Shanghai and Shenzhen 300 Index was up 2.7% Wednesday to close at 2589. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng slipped 0.7% to 18,919, and Tokyo's Nikkei 225 fell 0.5% to 16,765. Elsewhere, Taiwan's Taiex added 0.4% to 7481, South Korea's Kospi was up 0.6% at 1411, and the Jakarta Composite Index was better by 0.6% at 1743. India's BSE Sensex lost 0.9% to 12,580. Markets in Europe were mostly higher, but London's FTSE 100 was off by 0.1% at 6132. Frankfurt's Xetra DAX tacked on 0.2% to 6607, and the Cac 40 in Paris was up 0.1% at 5445. The MIB 30 in Milan shed 0.2% to 40,287, and the Swiss Market Index was up 0.7% at 8833. In Latin America, Mexico's Bolsa surged 2.2% to 26,356, while Brazil's Bovespa slipped 0.5% to 42,988.- Loading Comments...
