Monday's Tech Winners & Losers

Shares of Aeroflex(ARXX Quote) were among technology's winners Monday, jumping 19% after the maker of integrated circuits agreed to be acquired by private-equity firm General Atlantic and Francisco Partners for about $1 billion in cash.

The deal works out to $13.50 a share and represents a 23% premium to Aeroflex's closing price of $11.01 on Friday. "We are pleased to be partnering with Aeroflex, a global provider of high-technology test measurement and microelectronic products with deep expertise in dynamic, complex industries," General Atlantic said. The agreement allows Aeroflex to solicit alternative proposals from third parties through April 18. If Aeroflex accepts another deal, it would have to pay a breakup fee to General Atlantic and Francisco Partners. Shares of Aeroflex were trading up $2.10 to $13.11.

Advanced Micro Devices(AMD Quote) fell 2% after the chipmaker said that it is "unlikely" to meet its first-quarter revenue guidance. Previously, the company said that it would post first-quarter revenue of $1.6 billion to $1.7 billion. AMD issued the warning ahead of an investor conference scheduled for today. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call project revenue of $1.66 billion. Shares were trading down 24 cents to $13.94.

Shares of On Track Innovations(OTIV Quote) rose 5% after the maker of smart cards posted better-than-expected fourth-quarter results. The company posted a loss of $255,000, or 2 cents a share, on revenue of $13.2 million. On an adjusted basis, the company posted a profit of $500,000, or 3 cents a share. Analysts expected a loss of 4 cents a share on revenue of $9.4 million. During the year-earlier quarter, the company reported a loss of $2.3 million, or 22 cents a share, on revenue of $9.3 million. Excluding items, the company posted a loss of $1.9 million, or 18 cents a share, during the year-earlier quarter. Shares were trading up 33 cents to $6.80.
