Anadigics (ANAD Quote) surged after investor Michael Cahill told Barron's that the semiconductor company is "on the verge of massive earnings acceleration" based on his earnings forecast of near 50 cents a share in full-year 2007 and a doubling from that in 2008, up from as-yet-unannounced breakeven in 2006.
Cahill also brushed off concerns about last year's big shelf filing, as well as another upcoming share offering that he factored into his profits prediction, calling them necessary moves that help Anadigics keep up with its big-name customers. He disclosed that his Chilton Investment fund owns about 11.5% of the New Jersey-based company. Shares were up $1.20, or 13.2%, to $10.27. Shares of Ivanhoe Energy (IVAN Quote) jumped after the Canada-based oil-and-gas company announced its "most successful to date" test run at its California processing facility. The findings, said the company, may represent "a simple and cost effective alternative for the processing of some of the more challenging heavy crudes." Shares were rising 22 cents, or 13.7%, to $1.83. Deckers Outdoor (DECK Quote) rose after an analyst with Robert W. Baird upgraded the California-based footwear maker to outperform from neutral. Shares were gaining $4.82, or 8.3%, to $63.14.- Loading Comments...
