Treasuries were rising. The 10-year note was up 5/32 in price and yielding 4.75%, and the 30-year bond was higher by 7/32 to yield 4.84%.
The dollar was easing against the world's major currencies. Gold eased $1 to close at $625.90 an ounce. Silver lost 25 cents to $12.62 an ounce. Overnight in Asia, Japan's Nikkei sank 1.5% to 17,091, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.9% to 20,211. In Europe, London's FTSE 100 was down 0.8% to 6216.
