Drug developer OxiGene(OXGN Quote) got a lift after clinical trial results showed that its drug CA4P helped stop blood flow to tumors and reduced tumor size. The treatment was administered to 13 patients who also received paclitaxel and carboplatin, two commonly used cancer treatments. Shares gained 4.3% to $4.82.

Crucell(CRXL Quote) has entered a cross-licensing agreement with Merck(MRK Quote) in which it will trade exclusive access to its vaccine technology for access to Merck's large-scale manufacturing technology. Shares of Crucell gained 2.1% to $25.59.

Adventrx Pharmaceuticals(ANX Quote) says it's beginning a new trial on its drug CoFactor for the treatment of advanced breast cancer.

The study will assess the drug's activity and safety in patients who have already tried anthracycline and taxane chemotherapies for the disease. The drug is expected to enhance the efficacy and reduce the toxicity of the widely used chemotherapy drug known as 5-fluorouracil. Despite the news, shares fell 3.4% to $2.83.

Among other health stock losers were Mylan Laboratories(MYL Quote), down 1.2% to $19.75, Telik(TELK Quote), falling 6.3% to $4.47, Repros Therapeutics(RPRX Quote), 2.5% lower to $11.42, Artes Medical(ARTE Quote), down 6.4% to $8.47, and Quigley(QGLY Quote), off 1.6% to $6.

Winners included Wyeth(WYE Quote), up 1.3% to $51.47, Bristol-Myers Squibb(BMY Quote), 1.1% higher to $26.34, Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners(CPRX Quote), gaining 5.9% to $4.50, and Cytori Therapeutics(CYTX Quote), whose shares were boosted 16.1% to $7.07.
