Trial Data Lift OxiGene

Drug developer OxiGene(OXGN Quote) got a lift after reporting positive clinical trial results on an experimental cancer treatment.

Research showed that the drug, called CA4P, helped stop blood flow to tumors and reduced tumor size. The treatment was administered to 13 patients who also received paclitaxel and carboplatin, two commonly used cancer treatments.

Safety data were in line with expectations, the company says.

All patient data have been collected and analyzed, with the exception of one patient, whom researchers decided to keep treating following positive results, OxiGene says. The company expects to present the final data from the trial at an upcoming medical meeting.

Shares were gaining 6.5% to $4.92 Wednesday.
