Wednesday's Small-Cap Winners & Losers
Mocon (MOCO Quote) jumped 14% after saying net sales for the third quarter were $6.6 million, an increase of 17% from last year. Net income for the quarter was $969,000, or 18 cents a share, up from $594,000 and 11 cents in the same period a year ago. Mocon was up $1.38 to $11.03.
Atlantic Tele-Network(ATNI Quote) soared after the Salem, Mass.-based telecom reported a gain in third-quarter profits. The company earned $7.6 million, or 53 cents a share, up from $4.4 million, or 36 cents a share. Wall Street was looking for earnings of 34 cents a share. Shares gained $3.35, or 17.3%, to $22.69. Harvest Natural Resources(HNR Quote) slumped after the Houston-based gas and oil company was downgraded by Morgan Keegan to market-perform from outperform. Shares were trading down 70 cents, or 6.3%, to $10.41. Kforce(KFRC Quote) slipped after the Tampa-based staffing-services company missed analysts' third-quarter earnings expectations. The company posted net income of $8.8 million, or 21 cents a share, a penny below estimates. Looking ahead, the company said it expects fourth-quarter earnings of 21 cents to 23 cents a share, and revenue ranging between $243 million and $248 million. Analysts are calling for earnings of 22 cents a share on sales of $240.9 million. Shares were trading down $2.20, or 14.7%, to $12.77.- Loading Comments...
