CheckFree Accounts Exec Parts

09/27/06 - 03:33 PM EDT

Katie Dean

CheckFree's CKFR Chief Accounting Officer is resigning from the electronic payment company, it announced Wednesday.

In an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Norcross, Georgia-based company said that Jack Browne, Jr. will leave the position on Oct. 15.

Browne has accepted a CAO job at an unnamed private company that plans to go public in the near future.

Browne will remain as a consultant with CheckFree until Nov. 15 to assist with the company's first-quarter earnings report. CheckFree CFO David Mangum will take on the CAO duties until a replacement is found.

CheckFree stock slipped 1.2%, or 51 cents, to $40.75 in recent Wednesday trading.
