Monday's ETF Winners & Losers

The worst performers Monday in the exchange-traded funds universe are those related to precious metals, as gold and silver futures fell hard. The iShares Silver Trust(SLV Quote) ETF was sinking $10.26, or 8.5%, to $111.04. The iShares Comex Gold(IAU Quote) ETF was losing $1.98, or 3.3%, to $58.70. The streetTRACKS Gold Shares(GLD Quote) ETF was down $1.98, or 3.3%, to $58.66.

ETFs tracking to oil services were also weaker, as oil prices briefly sank below the $65-a-barrel level. Crude was set to close lower for the sixth-straight session following OPEC's decision to keep production quotas unchanged.

The Oil Service HOLDRs(OIH Quote) ETF was losing 2.3% to $128.39. The PowerShares Dynamic Oil & Gas Services(PXJ Quote) ETF was sliding by 1.8% to $18.75. The iShares Dow Jones U.S. Oil & Gas Exploration Index(IEO Quote) ETF was falling by 1.6% to $45.95.

Meanwhile, ETFs related to semiconductors were also among the winners Monday. Freescale Semiconductor (FSL Quote) jumped by more than 20% after The New York Times reported it will be sold to a group of investors for more than $16 billion. Additionally, Texas Instruments (TXN Quote) was rising 3% ahead of its midquarter update, due after the close.

The SPDR Semiconductor(XSD Quote) ETF was tacking on $1.17, or 2.5%, to $48.06. The PowerShares Dynamic Semiconductors(PSI Quote) ETF was gaining 44 cents, or 2.7%, to $16.82. The iShares Goldman Sachs Semiconductor(IGW Quote) ETF was adding $1.36, or 2.3%, to $60.41. The Semiconductor HOLDRs(SMH Quote) ETF was higher by 50 cents, or 1.5%, to $33.80

Also among winners, a gain of 4.7% in Best Buy(BBY Quote) helped push the PowerShares Dynamic Retail (PMR Quote) ETF higher, recently by 20 cents, or 1.2%, to $17.09. The Retail HOLDRs (RTH Quote) was rising by $1.44, or 1.5%, to $95.73. Best Buy is set to report fiscal second-quarter earnings Tuesday morning.
