Wednesday's Small-Cap Winners & Losers
LSI Industries(LYTS Quote) was trading up after the lighting fixtures and graphics elements company's fourth-quarter earnings increased. The Cincinnati-based company earned $4.5 million, or 22 cents a share, compared with $4.1 million, or 20 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue totaled $71.7 million, down slightly from last year. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call were looking for earnings of 19 cents a share on $68.3 million in sales. Shares climbed $1.18, or 8%, to $15.97 recently.
SeaChange International(SEAC Quote) gained after the Acton, Mass.-based digital-video systems maker was upgraded by Ferris Baker Watts to buy from neutral. The company is scheduled to release second-quarter results on Aug. 30. Shares gained 42 cents, or 5.9%, to $7.50. American Woodmark(AMWD Quote) slumped after the Winchester, Va.-based kitchen-cabinet maker guided lower for the second quarter. The company posted first-quarter income of $13.4 million, or 82 cents a share, up from $7.5 million, or 45 cents a share, a year ago. The company expects second-quarter income to be in the range of 55 cents to 60 cents a share. Analysts are looking for earnings of 68 cents. Shares were trading down $4.44, or 13%, to $29.67. Empire District Electric(EDE Quote) slipped after the Joplin, Mo.-based power company was downgraded by Jeffries & Co. to hold from buy. Shares fell 80 cents, or 3.5%, to $22.25.- Loading Comments...
