VeriSign(VRSN Quote - Cramer on VRSN - Stock Picks) plans to delay filing its second-quarter 10-Q due to its ongoing stock options review.

The Internet services company said late Wednesday that its deadline to file the 10-Q has been extended to Aug. 14, but the company doesn't expect the filling to be made by then.

Past stock option practices have contributed to a snowballing of worries for investors, including the departure of several board members; uncertainty with a major contract; and lackluster guidance for the September quarter have prompted negative commentary from analysts and a bumpy ride for the stock.

Shares of VeriSign were recently off 46 cents, or 2.6%, to $17 in after-hours trading on Instinet.
