The BSE Sensex closed at 10,609.25 Friday, up 447.09 points, after bullish sentiment prevailed throughout the day.

The Indian bourses took cues from their global counterparts and rose as the U.S. Federal Reserve appeared to take a slightly more dovish tone on its future rate plans.

Gainers on the index included Reliance Communication Ventures, which surged 11.71%, Maruti Udyog, up 8.69%, and HLL, advancing 8.68%. Hindalco, BHEL and ACC also rose, while ICICI Bank IBN added 1.63%.

Ranbaxy lagged, losing 0.97%.

Tata Consultancy Services rose 3.31% on the news that it's planning to spend Rs 13 billion on capital expenditures. The company has plans to expand in emerging markets like China and eastern Europe.
