Gainers on the index included Reliance Communication Ventures, which surged 11.71%, Maruti Udyog, up 8.69%, and HLL, advancing 8.68%. Hindalco, BHEL and ACC also rose, while ICICI Bank IBN added 1.63%. Ranbaxy lagged, losing 0.97%. Tata Consultancy Services rose 3.31% on the news that it's planning to spend Rs 13 billion on capital expenditures. The company has plans to expand in emerging markets like China and eastern Europe.
The two-year extension is expected to generate up to $22 million for Gtech.
