Singapore Airlines signed a letter of intent to purchase 20 passenger jets from Boeing (BA Quote) that have a list price of $4.52 billion, the carrier said Wednesday.
The airline plans to buy 20 Boeing 787-9s and said it has purchase rights for another 20 airplanes. Deliveries will be scheduled between early 2011 and mid-2013, Singapore Air said. Shares of Boeing were rising $4.24, or 5.5%, to $81.22. Boeing's 787-9 is being designed to carry 250 to 290 passengers. The two-engine plane, expected to enter service in 2010, has a range of 8,600 to 8,800 nautical miles. Singapore Airlines plans to use the aircraft on routes to North Asia, the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East.- Loading Comments...
