HBO, Cingular in Pact

Television and cable networks continue to sign a slew of new content deals with wireless providers, the latest coming Thursday in a partnership between Time Warner'sTWX popular HBO outlet and Cingular. The deal, first reported by The Wall Street Journal, is set to be announced this afternoon in Manhattan, and will see some HBO programming such as Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Sopranos made available to Cingular subscribers. It comes on the heels of announcements from GE's GE NBC and Disney DIS, who are providing programming content to the AppleAAPL video iPod, and Viacom's VIA CBS, which last week struck a content delivery deal with Cingular competitor Verizon Wireless. The HBO-enhanced service from Cingular, the joint venture between AT&T T and BellSouth BLS, will include ring tones, downloadable wallpaper and clips from other programming such as cartoons and sports.
