Applied Micro Circuits AMCC named Robert G. Gargus chief financial officer. The San Diego chip company said the move is effective Oct. 10. "Bob's vision, energy and demonstrated business leadership in corporate finance and operational management will be a great asset to our company. I am very pleased to welcome him as the newest member of AMCC's management team," said CEO Kambiz Hooshmand. Gargus was most recently chief financial officer of Open-Silicon, a privately held fabless application-specific integrated circuit company. Acting CFO Jeff Blazevich will remain controller. On Tuesday, Applied Micro Circuits rose 6 cents to $2.98.
The Motorola spinoff will repurchase shares.
