'Mad Money' Mailbag: Find Your Way in GPS

Editor's Note: The following are questions received from viewers of "Mad Money," seen every day at 6 p.m. EDT on CNBC.

What is your opinion on Garmin(GRMN - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) and how it relates to the rest of the sector, like Trimble Navigation(TRMB - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) and Sirf Technology(SIRF - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr)?

-- Kathy from California

James J. Cramer: Hands down, Garmin and Sirf are the leaders in handheld GPS navigation devices. Both companies recently posted upbeat second-quarter earnings results, and I believe they'll continue to gather momentum in the next couple of quarters. On the other hand, I believe that investors should avoid Trimble.

You said that Exxon(XOM - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) lacked growth potential. What if the company simply spent the money it's using for its buyback?

-- John from Ohio

James J. Cramer: What you're talking about is the strategy that Chevron(CVX - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) is employing with its $17.2 billion purchase of Unocal(UCL - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr). I can't say I agree with this direction, either. At this point of the energy cycle, I believe you need to stick with the explorers that have the best growth potential, like Chesapeake Energy(CHK - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr) and Southwestern Energy(SWN - Cramer's Take - Stockpickr).
