Stocks In Motion
Shares of Huntsman(HUN) rose 4% after the chemicals maker said that it would sell its toluene diisocyanate business to BASF for an undisclosed amount. The sale also includes the transfer of Huntman's customer list and sales contracts. The manufacturing plant, which will not be transferred as part of the deal, will be shut down. Huntsman expects to record charges of about $39 million in association with the sale, with the bulk of the writedown taking place during the second quarter of 2005. Shares were trading up 84 cents to $21.57.
NYSE volume leaders included Pfizer(PFE), down 26 cents to $26.79; MBNA(KRB), down 4 cents to $25.49; Nortel Networks(NT), down 2 cents to $2.55; Elan(ELN), up 34 cents to $7.16; Bank of America(BAC), down 27 cents to $44.84; Exxon Mobil(XOM), down 32 cents to $59.82; Lucent Technologies(LU), down 1 cent to $2.96; and General Electric(GE), down 13 cents to $34.59. Nasdaq volume leaders included Oracle(ORCL), up 18 cents to $13.45; Sun Microsystems(SUNW), up 7 cents to $3.71; Microsoft(MSFT), down 4 cents to $24.94; Intel(INTC), up 18 cents to $26.86; Cisco Systems (CSCO), up 15 cents to $18.97; and Amegy Bancorp(ABNK), down 84 cents to $22.14.TheStreet Premium Services
