Xilinx Names Info Chief

Semiconductor chipmaker Xilinx (XLNX Quote) named Kevin Cooney chief information officer.

The San Jose, Calif., company said Cooney is a 10-year Xilinx veteran who last was senior director of information technology and business development for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He'll report to finance chief Kris Chellam.

"His appointment was a natural choice for the company, given our top priority to bring to fruition a robust, scaleable IT infrastructure to support our next decade of growth," Chellam said in a press release.

Cooney will stay on the Xilinx Ireland board and will run global IT operations from the company's European headquarters in Dublin.

Early Friday, Xilinx fell 81 cents to $28.24.
