Shares of PC Mall(MALL Quote) were among the Nasdaq's losers Friday, falling 13.1% after the company posted fourth-quarter earnings and sales that were below expectations. Excluding items, the computer products retailer earned $1.2 million, or 10 cents a share, on sales of $325.4 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call were expecting earnings of 25 cents a share on sales of $331.5 million. A year ago the company earned 9 cents a share on sales of $289.9 million. For the full year, the company earned $3.6 million, or 30 cents a share, on sales of $1.16 billion. Shares traded down $2.04 to $13.48. Top Tankers(TOPT Quote) rose 3.1% after the oil tanker company posted strong fourth-quarter results. The company earned $19.3 million, or 80 cents a share, on sales of $47.7 million. The one-analyst forecast called for earnings of 65 cents a share. A year ago the company posted a profit of $688,000, or 11 cents a share, on sales of $6.4 million. Shares traded up 59 cents to $19.88. Shares of Zale(ZLC Quote) rose 12.8% after the jewelry retailer posted second-quarter earnings that beat expectations. The company earned $99.2 million, or $1.91 a share, on sales of $972 million. Analysts were expecting earnings of $1.89 a share on sales of $983 million. A year ago the company earned $97 million, or $1.83 a share, on sales of $949 million. "By maintaining tight disciplines in the business, we kept our inventory and expense structure in line with our plan," the company said. "This minimized the impact of our revenue shortfall and allowed us to deliver earnings per share growth over the prior year." Shares traded up $3.45 to $30.40. Hanover Compressor(HC Quote) fell 3.1% after the compression equipment company posted a fourth-quarter loss and sales that were wider than expected. The company lost $20.2 million, or 24 cents a share, on sales of $310.1 million. Analysts were expecting a loss of 9 cents a share on sales of $314.1 million. Looking ahead, Hanover said that it expects 2005 EBITDA of $280 million to $320 million and expects capital expenditures to be between $125 million and $150 million.
