Sears' Earnings Rise, as Do Credit Concerns

For the full year, Sears expects its comparable earnings to grow by a low- to mid-single-digit percentage rate. Operating income from its retail operations should grow by a rate in the midteens, while its credit business should slump by a rate in the low- to mid-single digits, Sears said.

In afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange, Sears shares were up $1.04 to $27.74.
