Spectrian Surges on Buyout by Remec

Spectrian(SPCT Quote) was surging in the premarket session Monday on news that Remec(REMC Quote) agreed to buy it for $160 million, or $14 a share.

Spectrian makes power amplifiers for wireless infrastructure equipment. Remec sells high-frequency subsystems for voice, video and data traffic over wireless networks and in space and defense electronics applications.

Remec will pay up to $45 million of the purchase price in cash. The stock portion will comprise newly issued Remec common shares.

Spectrian's shares were up 23% at $13.33 in early trading. Remec's were rising 1.3% to $8.26.
