The Night Watch: Networkers Slip in Light Trading
Networking stocks were moving slightly lower in after-hours Instinet trading, but on the whole, the extra session was fairly quiet to start the week.
Cisco (CSCO Quote) was slipping 0.3% to $17.37. Ciena (CIEN Quote) was lower by 1% at $10.19, and Juniper (JNPR Quote) was down 0.3% to $14.67. Volume was light. In the first hour of trading, only about 1.4 million shares had changed hands among the top 20 most actively traded stocks on the Instinet platform. Intel (INTC Quote) was the volume leader, ticking up 0.1% at $33.46. Powerwave Technologies (PWAV Quote) was ahead by 0.3% at $15.20. The Nasdaq 100 Unit Trust (QQQ Quote) was up 0.2% to $38.59. Elsewhere, two software names were being actively swapped. Oracle (ORCL Quote), which will report its quarterly results later this week, was flat at $14.50, while Veritas (VRTS Quote) was losing 0.4% to $43.97.- Loading Comments...
