03/10/02 - 04:27 AM EST
The Communications Ministry will allow state-owned phone company Bezeq to acquire control of satellite TV company YES, Ma'ariv reports.
A report by Director General Ori Olenik states that the ministry would not object to Bezeq holding over 50% in YES. The report was prompted by the possible departure of some YES shareholders.
The report also refers to the merger of the three cable firms, Matav Cable Systems (Nasdaq:MATV), Tevel, Golden Channels. Olenik wrote that the merger could save the three companies NIS 150 million annually.
