The Night Watch: Tech Friday Rides Again
Widely held technology issues were the top movers in extra-session Instinet trading Friday, and a handful of data storage stocks, which enjoyed big gains in regular action, were giving back a few pennies.
In the first hour of extended trading, about 2.8 million shares changed hands among the 20 most active stocks on Instinet. McData (MCDT Quote) was the volume leader, slipping 0.3% to $12.96. In regular trading, the stock gained 8.8% to $13. Network Appliance (NTAP Quote) was off 0.2% to $21.22, after a 5.7% gain at the 4 p.m. EST close. Sonus Networks (SONS Quote) was also active, trading down 0.5% at $3.81. Americredit (ACF Quote), a big winner in regular-session activity, was flat at $34.60, and remained up 16.9% on the day. The widely held tech names were mostly hovering around the flatline, but eBay (EBAY Quote) was off 0.9% at $59.89. Intel (INTC Quote) was flat at $34.18, and Sun Micro (SUNW Quote) was inching up 0.1% to $10.01. Cisco (CSCO Quote) was lower by 0.2% to $17.77. Dell (DELL Quote) was tacking on 0.1% to $28.93, and Microsoft (MSFT Quote) was ticking down 0.1% at $63.86.- Loading Comments...
