The Night Watch: Tech Friday Rides Again

Widely held technology issues were the top movers in extra-session Instinet trading Friday, and a handful of data storage stocks, which enjoyed big gains in regular action, were giving back a few pennies.

In the first hour of extended trading, about 2.8 million shares changed hands among the 20 most active stocks on Instinet.

McData (MCDT Quote) was the volume leader, slipping 0.3% to $12.96. In regular trading, the stock gained 8.8% to $13. Network Appliance (NTAP Quote) was off 0.2% to $21.22, after a 5.7% gain at the 4 p.m. EST close.
