American Eagle Outfitters (AEOS Quote) said consolidated February same-store sales fell 2.4%, while total sales for the four weeks ended March 2 increased 16.3% to $71.1 million.
Total sales for the period include $4.6 million from the Bluenotes/Thriftys operation. Consolidated comparable-store sales include American Eagle and Bluenotes/Thriftys stores. Same-store sales at American Eagle stores dropped 1.2% last month, and Bluenotes/Thriftys comparable-store sales declined 15.4% in February. Shares of American Eagle, which sells clothes aimed at teens and young adults, ended down $1.97, or 7.5%, at $24.33.
