The yen hit an eight-month low against the dollar and the euro after a report indicated that Japanese machinery orders slid in October.
The yen traded at 126.40 to the dollar, down from 125.53 Friday, before rebounding slightly to 126.26. The Japanese currency traded at 112.15 per euro, down from 111.70 in the prior session.
The pound traded at $1.4330, compared with $1.4306 previously. The euro traded at 88.86 cents against the dollar.
