Scottrade: $7 Online Stock Trades & Powerful Trading Tools

Welcome to TheStreet.com Search. Our search tool offers readers two options for searching TheStreet.com.

Simple Search

The Simple Search tool allows you to search for features on TheStreet.com. Just type in your request in the search field above the menu, click on SEARCH and results will be listed by most recent article/post first. Up to 15 results will be listed by default on every page. The number of articles displayed per page can be changed by using the dropdown. Articles/posts can be listed by relevancy by clicking on the appropriate link. Search results will also display matching ticker symbols, glossary entries and site sections.

Guidelines:

If a word is essential to getting the results you want, you can include it by putting a "+" sign in front of each word you enter into the Search for field. (Be sure to include a space before the "+" sign.)

For example: You're looking for a Jim Cramer column that discusses Amazon and options. You would use the + sign to look up all three terms.

+Cramer +options +Amazon

You can exclude a word from your search by putting a minus sign ("-") immediately in front of the term you want to avoid. (Be sure to include a space before the minus sign.)

For example: You're looking for a story on IBM but aren't interested in a story that also mentions Gateway.

+IBM -Gateway

Search for complete phrases by enclosing them in quotation marks. Words enclosed in double quotes ("like this") will appear together in all results exactly as you have entered them. Phrase searches are especially useful when searching for famous sayings or proper names.

For example: You're looking for a story that mentions IBM calls.

"IBM calls"

Advanced Search

The Advanced Search tool, enables you to customize your search by media type, author, date range, ticker, and/or site. The general keyword search ("Search for:" field) is still required. Adding additional search criteria limits the results returned. The Advanced Search tool adds an additional sorting criteria of Media Type.

Click on GO after selecting your options and results will be listed by the current sort order.

Here's a breakdown of our Advanced Search options:

Search for: This required field allows you to search for features on TheStreet.com.

Sort by Media Type: This checkbox resorts results by media type.

Filter Media: The checkboxes show the types of media types available..

Author: This pulldown menu provides a list of current reporters, columnists and other contributors on TheStreet.com.

Date range: By unchecking All Dates, the from and to date menus allow you to narrow your search by date.

Ticker: This field allows you to search for features by ticker symbols.

Site: This pulldown menu enables you to limit your search to specific sites (i.e., TheStreet.com) or search for features on all sites.
