The Barron's Roundup

Editor's note: Welcome to Stockpickr's "Barron's Roundup." Each weekend, James Altucher presents Stockpickr portfolios related to articles in the latest issue of Barron's.

Barron's Roundtable Stock Picks: Barron's interviews a variety of professional money managers for its annual "Roundtable" feature. In the final installment, published this week, Felix Zulauf, Abby Joseph Cohen, Marc Faber, Archie MacAllaster and Scott Black offer a variety of stock picks for 2008. Among their favorites are Chesapeake Energy(CHK), Devon Energy(DVN) and Intel(INTC). Their pans include DryShips(DRYS).

Barron's 10 Tempting Stocks At Rock-Bottom Prices: This week's Barron's cover story highlights 10 stocks that are trading at bargain prices. They include Freeport-McMoRan(FCX) and Motorola(MOT).

Barron's 'Speaking Of Dividends': This Barron's column highlights the latest dividend increases, initiations and cutbacks. This week's issue has information on Praxair(PX), among others.

Barron's Summaries: Each week, Barron's publishes bullish and bearish stories on a variety of stocks. We present summaries of those stories in this portfolio. This week, there's a bullish story on Avnet(AVT) and a bearish piece on Apple(AAPL).

Latest Activist Hedge Fund Purchases: Which companies are the top hedge funds chasing? This week's list includes Leap Wireless(LEAP), Sara Lee(SLE) and Sealy Corporation(ZZ).

Research Reports: The latest analyst research reports highlighted by Barron's, including reports this week on Smith & Wesson(SWHC), Schlumberger(SLB) and Johnson & Johnson(JNJ).

Top Insider Purchases of the Week: Insider purchases are a lot more predictive than insider selling. Barron's lists the companies where managers and directors are buying, and we build a portfolio of those companies' stocks. There has been interesting activity in Monsanto(MON), Lions Gate(LGF), Titanium Metals(TIE) and GE(GE).
