May Retail Sales Rise 0.1%

Retail sales retailsales figures for May came in slightly weaker than expected, rising 0.1% for the month, compared with the 0.2% increase economists expected.

Excluding auto sales, retail sales rose 0.3% for the month, according to data released by the Census Bureau.

Retail sales for April were revised up to reflect an increase of 1.4%. The preliminary report indicated that retail sales for April rose 1.1%.
