Stilwell Financial (SV Quote), the parent company of
Janus Capital, said assets under management fell for the third consecutive month.
At the end of March, assets under management were about $206 billion, down from $232 billion in
February. The decline was linked to the falling equity markets.
On Friday, the company
warned that decreasing revenue could stifle earnings. Three analysts polled by
Thomson Financial/First Call estimated, on average, that the company will post earnings of 55 cents a share in the first quarter. Stilwell, which is based in Kansas City, Mo., will report earnings on April 25.
On the
New York Stock Exchange, Stilwell gained 44 cents, or 1.6%, to $27.26 in recent trading.
