Trigon Healthcare Names New President, Operating Chief

Trigon Healthcare(TGH Quote) named John W. Coyle chief operating officer and president, a post that has been vacant since April 1999.

Chairman and Chief Executive Tom Snead previously served in the position. Coyle joins the company from Aetna(AET Quote), where he was the head of business operations. From 1989 to 1992, he served as Aetna's vice president for HMO and managed care operations in the mid-Atlantic region.

Shares of Trigon fell $4.19, or 6.5%, to $59.88 in recent New York Stock Exchange trading.
