AVX to Name Gilbertson CEO in July

AVX(AVX Quote) said its board plans to name John S. Gilbertson, the company's current president and operating chief, to the posts of president and chief executive at the July 25 meeting.

He will succeed the current chief executive, Benedict P. Rosen, who will stay with the company as chairman.

Gilbertson has been with the Myrtle Beach, S.C., company for about 20 years in a variety of roles. He was named chief operating officer in 1994 and president in 1997. He has been a board member since the company's initial public offering in 1995.

Shares of the electronics component maker gained $1.06, or 6.2%, to $18.31 at 4 p.m. in New York Stock Exchange trading.
