AT&T(T Quote) was up 1.5% in early trading after it said it would spin off Liberty Media, the television programming company it acquired when it bought Tele-Communications Inc. Liberty's tracking stock was up 4.8%. Ma Bell said the move would ease regulatory concerns about its cable holdings.
