NEW YORK (AP) ⿿ Shares of some top gold companies were up at the close of trading:

Barrick Gold Corp. rose $.48 or 1.4 percent, to $35.56.

Gold Fields rose $.36 or 2.9 percent, to $12.60.

GoldCorp. rose $.74 or 1.7 percent, to $44.08.

Newmont Mining Corp. rose $.11 or .2 percent, to $48.50.
