NEW YORK (AP) Shares of some top gold companies were up at the close of trading:
Barrick Gold rose $.89 or 2.7 percent, to $33.99.
Gold Fields rose $.58 or 4.9 percent, to $12.41.
Goldcorp rose $1.23 or 3.7 percent, to $34.73.
Newmont Mining rose $.47 or 1.1 percent, to $41.88.
