WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (AP) — Bombardier picked Kidde Aerospace & Defense, a subsidiary of Hamilton Sundstrand, to supply the fire-protection system for its new C-series commercial aircraft.

The fire-protection system, which will be primarily designed and manufactured at a Kidde facility in Wilson, N.C., includes smoke and fire detectors, fire extinguishers, and integrated control electronics, it said.

Hamilton Sundstrand, a unit of United Technologies Corp., said the system is an enhanced version of Kidde systems being used on other Bombardier planes.

United Technologies shares fell 16 cents to $54.77 in morning trading.
