Continental Flight Lands After Pilot Dies

A Continental Airlines (CAL) flight landed safely in Newark airport after the captain died mid-flight.

Continental flight 61 with 247 passengers was on its way from Brussels and made an emergency landing in Newark under the control of two co-pilots.

The pilot, 61, was based in Newark and had worked for Continental for 21 years, the airline said in a statement.

Shares of the airline are down by 5%, to $9.15, in afternoon trading.
