Safeway Spent $350K Lobbying Government In 1Q

WASHINGTON (AP) Safeway Inc. spent $350,000 in the first quarter to lobby on grocery store issues, according to a recent disclosure report.
The Pleasanton, Calif.-based supermarket company lobbied on legislation involving food safety, health care reform, organized retail crime and other matters, according to the report filed April 20 with the House clerk's office.
Besides Congress, Safeway lobbied the departments of Health and Human Services and Treasury during the January-March period.
