ACE Ltd. Names Brian Dowd Vice Chairman

NEW YORK (AP) Property and casualty insurance company Ace Ltd. said Wednesday it named Brian Dowd as vice chairman of Ace Ltd. and ACE Group Holdings.

Dowd already serves as CEO of the Zurich-based company's North America insurance unit.

Dowd will assume corporatewide executive responsibility for the ACE Group's global product underwriting boards and the strategy and purchase of the company's reinsurance programs.

Dowd joined ACE in 1995. He has held senior management positions with the company, including president and CEO of ACE Westchester, president of ACE Specialty P&C Group, among other positions.

Shares of the company slipped 63 cents to $43.02 in afternoon trading.
