MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) Harris Corp., which makes radios and communications devices for military and commercial customers, said Monday it received a three-year, multimillion dollar contract from Boeing Co. to supply spare hardware for the international space station's audio-visual display system.
Specific financial terms were not disclosed.
Harris previously produced the internal audio system and internal video distribution subsystem for the space station's communications network.
Under the new provisioning contract, Harris said it will supply a dozen orbital replacement units that will be used for audio network routing and control functions.
The auto visual display system provides audio communications among individual crew members within the station as well as with people on Earth, docked spacecraft and crew members doing activities outside of the station such as spacewalks.
