SALT LATE CITY (AP) — Nutritional supplement maker USANA Health Sciences Inc. on Tuesday hedged toward a lower annual profit, and reduced its sales expectations.

USANA said it expects a profit of $1.80 to $1.85 per share for the year, down from an earlier forecast of $1.85 per share. It said revenue will be between $390 million and $400 million. The company previously estimated revenue of about $437.6 million.

Analysts expected an average of $1.85 per share and $431.9 million in revenue, according to Thomson Reuters.

In 2008, the company earned $1.85 per share on revenue of $429 million.

The multilevel marketer reported its first quarter results Tuesday, saying the less favorable currency exchanges hurt its sales overseas, and U.S. sales did not live up to expectations.

USANA said the stronger dollar could reduce its profit by as much as 35 cents per share this year.
