Praxair Distribution Acquires 3 Packaged Gas Firms

DANBURY, Conn. (AP) — Industrial gas maker Praxair Inc. said Tuesday its subsidiary Praxair Distribution Inc. acquired Alabama Welding Supply, Fowler Brothers and Service Gas Supply Inc.

The acquisitions of the packaged gas companies involve four locations in Alabama and one in Texas. Their operations will be integrated into the company's southern region.

Terms of the transactions were not provided.

Praxair Distribution supplies industrial, specialty and medical gases and related equipment from 500 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Shares of the Praxair Inc. fell $1.17 to $68.42 in late afternoon trading Tuesday.
